HP has now launched the latest edition of its Spectre x360, a mini notebook. Now, it is easy to do something unique by the use of a Host Controller Expansion Card (HCE).
This Card works on the HCD chipset and enables a computer to have more memory, and also more slots for storage devices. When the card is connected to a PC, it will be used as a driver which will add additional hardware into the system. By doing this, the computer will be able to work with more programs.
The HCE works with the built-in or external memory cards, such as Memory Stick Duo and Memory Stick Pro. It can also work with the USB flash drives and SD cards.
However, it is important to know that the use of this card is restricted in some situations. This includes the following situations:
Using the card as a Workstation Card. There are certain software that do not support this Card.
Using the card to connect to a USB flash drive. As the driver is not compatible with all types of drives, the USB flash drive would not be detected by the computer. It will also not function.
Connecting a Multi-Media Card to a Card Reader. The card reader will be unable to detect the card. It will result in an error message and no operation.
If you find yourself in one of these situations, you will not be able to use a Host Controller Expansion Card. The best thing to do is to take your laptop to a computer store or service center to get it fixed.
Even though this problem does not occur very often, you can still save money by getting a Host Controller Card instead of buying a new computer. It is still cheaper than having a brand new computer from a computer store. Plus, it will be ready to go in a few minutes.
When purchasing the card, it is important to remember that there is a small cost involved in the actual HP Spectre X360. Even though the cost may seem small, it is still worth it when compared to the initial cost of the computer.
HCE cards will be easily available online, in retail stores, and through third-party vendors who sell HCE cards. However, the cost may differ from one vendor to another.
One thing that you should always remember is that the software used to add these cards into the PC is fully compatible with Windows. The card itself, the software, and the processor in the PC all need to be compatible. So, if you find that your processor does not support the card, it will not work.
